What is FCCLA?
Family and Consumer Sciences students are encouraged to participate in their own student organization - Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). By joining FCCLA, students are given opportunities for personal growth, leadership development and the development of skills for life such as planning, goal setting, decision making, team work skills and interpersonal communication, which are necessary in both home and workplace. Students may choose to develop their self-confidence by participating in competitions or seeking to expand their leadership potential. Through participation in FCCLA, students gain valued character traits such as respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Waurika FCCLA members play an active role in school and community activities. Through a variety of local service projects, members work to make their community a better place to live. Membership is open to any student who is either currently enrolled or has previously completed a FACS course. A membership drive is held at the first of the school year. FCCLA dues are $15.00.
